At Radcliffe Anne Sullivan spelled millions of words into Helen Keller’s hands and helped her look up words in French, Latin, and German dictionaries. When Braille books weren’t available, Anne often Brailled them. Helen graduated cum laude. As she mounted the steps at graduation to get her degree, Anne Sullivan went with her hand in hand. As one girl said, ‘Radcliffe should also have given Miss Sullivan a degree.’ / src: digital commonwealth
