Paz Errázuriz ::
[Macarena, Santiago],
from Adam’s Apple (La Manzana de Adán), 1983
Paz Errázuriz turned her gaze toward the most vulnerable and marginalized in society, documenting their existence and giving them voice, power, and the ability to be seen. In one of her most important series, La Manzana de Adán (1983), she documents the lives of Mercedes, Evelyn, and Pilar, three transvestites working in the brothels of Talca and Santiago. Leopoldo Pomés :: ‘La Vasquita’, Barcelona, 1958 / source: Diari Ara
In 1957 Pomés was commissioned by editor Carlos Barral to photograph the city of Barcelona. After a year of work, Carles Seix (Barral’s partner) dismissed the publication of the book because he considered the photographs depicts Barcelona in a gloomy way. In 2012 [55 years later] Fundació Foto Colectania decided to organise an exhibition and published the book.
