The most iconic sign designed by Artkraft Strauss: the smoke-billowing sign for Camel cigarettes featuring a man holding a cigarette, his mouth producing gargantuan smoke rings. The circles were actually steam pumped from the Con Ed building’s heating system. [Times Square, NYC, ca. 1950]
