‘This group of nuns wearing traditional wimples was photographed from the mezzanine level of Washington National Airport, as they farewelled one of their order leaving for South America. Leopoldo Pomés :: ‘La Vasquita’, Barcelona, 1958 / source: Diari Ara

In 1957 Pomés was commissioned by editor Carlos Barral to photograph the city of Barcelona. After a year of work, Carles Seix (Barral’s partner) dismissed the publication of the book because he considered the photographs depicts Barcelona in a gloomy way. In 2012 [55 years later] Fundació Foto Colectania decided to organise an exhibition and published the book.
